# SWAMM: Spatial Watershed Assessment and Management Model > Open geospatial platform for collaborative watershed pollution management. Maps > nonpoint-source nitrogen, phosphorus, and sediment loading at field resolution, > tracks Best Management Practice (BMP) installations, and measures progress toward > Clean Water Act TMDL goals for Lake Decatur, Illinois. SWAMM is used by the City of Decatur, IL, watershed landowners, conservation districts, and environmental consultants to plan and track agricultural BMP implementation across the 925 square mile Lake Decatur Watershed. The platform calculates pollutant load reductions per BMP and generates grant application reports. Built on GeoNode 5.x, Django 5, and GeoServer. Target users: municipal stormwater engineers, conservation district staff, agricultural landowners, environmental consultants, and grant program administrators working on nonpoint-source water quality improvement. ## Getting Started - [Platform Overview](https://theswamm.com/): What SWAMM does and how the watershed management workflow works - [Sign Up](https://theswamm.com/account/signup/): Create an account to begin planning BMPs ## Technical Reference - [BMP Projects API](https://theswamm.com/swamm/api/project/): Create and manage BMP planning projects - [BMP Instances API](https://theswamm.com/swamm/api/{project_id}/bmps/): Individual BMPs with geospatial location and pollutant load reductions - [BMP Types API](https://theswamm.com/swamm/api/{project_id}/bmp-type/): BMP practice catalog with NRCS codes and nutrient/sediment reduction percentages - [Pollutant Loading Targets API](https://theswamm.com/swamm/api/{project_id}/pollutant-loading-target/): TMDL targets with current load, goal, and Excel export - [GeoServer WMS](https://theswamm.com/geoserver/geonode/wms?service=WMS&version=1.1.1&request=GetCapabilities): Nutrient loading maps and BMP spatial layers ## Use Cases - [BMP Performance Tracking](https://theswamm.com/): Design BMPs, calculate load reductions, track collaborative progress toward TMDL goals - [Grant Application Reports](https://theswamm.com/): Generate PDF reports for BMP grant applications - [Nutrient Load Mapping](https://theswamm.com/): Field-resolution nitrogen, phosphorus, and sediment loading maps ## Optional - [Dataset Catalogue](https://theswamm.com/catalogue/): Browse watershed geospatial datasets - [GeoServer WFS](https://theswamm.com/geoserver/geonode/wfs?service=WFS&version=2.0.0&request=GetCapabilities): Vector access to BMP and pollutant loading data
